Two girls from Bangalamedu successful Theni territory drowned successful Thamirabarani stream astatine Eral successful Thoothukudi connected Friday.
Police identified them arsenic S. Abinaya, 16, and S, Meenakshi, 12.
Police said Sankara Kumar, a nonmigratory of Bangalamedu, had travel with his family, including his daughters Abinaya and Meenakshi, to connection prayers astatine Pethanaachi Amman temple astatine Melmaandhai. On their way, they visited Arunachala Swamigal temple astatine Eral. Before offering prayers astatine the temple, they went to adjacent Thamirabarani stream for a bath.
The 2 girls jumped into the h2o and abruptly went missing. Their parents and different household members alerted Eral police. Fire and Rescue Services unit soon arrived and launched a hunt operation. Both girls were recovered from the stream and sent to the Primary Health Centre astatine Eral, wherever doctors declared them dormant connected arrival. The bodies were sent to Thoothukudi Government Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Eral constabulary person registered a lawsuit and are investigating.
