A rider connected an Akasa Air formation from Varanasi to Mumbai was detained aft helium allegedly tried to unfastened the aircraft's exigency exit earlier takeoff, officials said connected Tuesday (November 4, 2025).
The incidental took spot aboard formation QP 1497, which was scheduled to depart for Mumbai astatine 6.45 p.m. connected Monday (November 3) from Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport.
As the craft was taxiing towards the runway, the passenger, Sujit Singh, a nonmigratory of Gaura Badshahpur successful Jaunpur district, attempted to unfastened the exigency exit, constabulary said.
Following an alert from the compartment crew, the aviator informed the Air Traffic Control (ATC) and brought the craft backmost to the apron.
Security unit escorted each passengers disconnected the level and took Sujit Singh into custody for questioning, the constabulary said.
Phoolpur Station House Officer (SHO) Praveen Kumar Singh said the rider told investigators that helium tried to unfastened the exit "out of curiosity." Sujit Singh has been booked, the serviceman said.
The formation departed for Mumbai astatine astir 7.45 p.m. aft information clearance.
