A protestation by Left-affiliated pupil groups astatine Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) demanding registration of an FIR against ABVP connected allegations of unit turned tense connected Saturday (October 18, 2025) evening, with the organisations accusing Delhi Police of "brutal assault" portion the constabulary claimed the protesters broke barricades and injured personnel.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Amit Goel denied the allegations, saying astir 70-80 students, including women, gathered astatine the JNU West Gate astir 6 p.m. and "broke constabulary barricades, manhandled personnel, and obstructed traffic" connected Nelson Mandela Marg.

"A full of 28 students, including JNUSU bureau bearers, were detained to forestall immoderate untoward incident," Mr. Goel said, adding that six constabulary unit were injured.

Earlier, posters circulated by Left-affiliated groups had called for a "social march for societal justice" to the Vasant Kunj constabulary station, questioning wherefore nary FIR had been filed yet against ABVP members accused of attacking Left-affiliated students.
