Villupuram-based creator Kalaiselvan Kumar's upcoming exhibition, titled Kaanadha Karai, which translates to Unseen Shore, is an exploration of abstraction, 1 which captures his ocular connection of portraying the universe. Starting from January 3, astatine the Lalit Kala Akademi, the artworks embody fluid movements of waterbodies, the shifting gradient of the sky, and the silent, swirling vigor of distant galaxies.

The conception centres connected shores, wherever foundational forces similar land, fire, and h2o interact to forge reality. “The paintings run connected the content that successful painting, determination is nary bounds to imaginativeness and nary bound for the search; it is simply a mean done which we tin uncover the past portion remaining escaped from the constraints of predicting the future,” says Kumar.

Most of the artworks person a dense usage of lipid and pastel connected canvas, which Selvan says is “purely intuitive.” For instance, 1 of the artworks, Unseen Faith, is an abstract survey of condemnation — the implicit certainty of things hoped for, yet unseen. The canvas is dominated by a surge of axenic airy that includes yellows, whites, and airy golds.

Another artwork, Divine Descent, speaks of the fulfilment of faith, wherever the immense unseen powerfulness makes itself visible. The full centre of the canvas is simply a luminous yellowish and achromatic impasto. The heavy texture makes the airy consciousness similar a physical, progressive force, emphasising that the ‘descent’ is simply a transformative speech of vigor betwixt 2 realms.

“I usage mild and coagulated acrylic layers to specify the archetypal structure. Once dry, the exertion of lipid colours allows the 2 mediums to merge, creating caller structures, colours, and a melodramatic ocular feeling,” says Kumar.

“Using dense impasto and thick, radiant strokes allows the texture to go arsenic communicative arsenic the colour itself… these colours fortify the taxable and the canvas, providing extent that reflects the complexity of the themes,“ helium further adds.

Ultimately, Kumar points retired that Kaanadha Karai is meant to beryllium a solemnisation of the quality recovered successful overcoming adversity and the quiescent spot of the Phoenix rising from the fire.

Kaanadha Karai volition beryllium connected from January 3 to 9 astatine the Lalit Kala Akademi, from 11.30am to 7pm. Entry is free
