Choreographer Sajna Najam curated an event in Thiruvananthapuram celebrating Nawabi culture and couture

In an immersive creator experience, 45 women from Thiruvananthapuram came together, dressed successful their best, to enactment successful a themed event, Layali (meaning nights successful Arabic), which celebrated the aesthetics of Nawabi civilization and couture that existed chiefly successful Hyderabad, Lucknow and Lahore successful the precocious 19th and aboriginal 20th century.

The inspiration was Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Netflix series, Heeramandi, a ocular extravangaza that showcased the couture of that period, which included flowing anarkalis, richly-embroidered shararas and lehengas successful silks, chiffons and tussars, accessorised with dense jhumkas, maang tikkas, passa and layered cervix pieces, bangles and naths.
