The CPI(M) connected Friday urged the Tamil Nadu authorities to retreat the draught notification to amend the Tamil Nadu Factories Rules, 1950, to licence women workers to beryllium employed successful hazardous industries.
In a statement, the party’s State caput P. Shanmugam said for the past 75 years, the Tamil Nadu Factories Rules, 1950, had prohibited women from moving successful 20 hazardous sectors, including electroplating, solid manufacturing, state and petroleum production, dye manufacturing, chemic mixing successful fireworks and lucifer factories, and the accumulation of pesticides and fertilizers.
He pointed retired these industries exposed women workers to terrible wellness risks, specified arsenic cancer, kidney damage, and commencement defects successful children, among different fatal illnesses.
