The trustees of Shri Mahaveer Jain International Mission, Chennai, donated a van to the Gurupriya Vision Research Foundation, the charitable limb of Radhatri Nethralaya tertiary eye-care hospital, connected Saturday. Rajasthan Ratna Subash Chand Ranka, on with trustees Kishan Srisrimal Jain, Giresh Bhandari, Nirmal Nahar and Niranjan Solanki, flagged disconnected the vehicle.
Praveen Krishna, Medical Director, said the van would beryllium utilized to transport preterm babies from underprivileged families, affected by Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), from agrarian areas to the hospital.
Vasumathy Vedantham, Medical Director, said that ROP was the starring origin of puerility blindness successful middle-income countries and highlighted the shortage of paediatric retina specialists successful India. She said agrarian screening requires teleophthalmology and hand-held retinal cameras.
