Uttar Pradesh: Two arrested for assaulting BLO, Lekhpal during SIR exercise in Raebareli

A Booth-Level Officer (BLO) and a Lekhpal were allegedly assaulted and their survey forms torn during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls successful Salon area, constabulary said connected Saturday (November 29, 2025).

According to the police, a lawsuit has been registered against the sitting colony pradhan and his father. BLO Aarti Yadav said she was filling elector verification forms connected Friday (November 28,the 2025) evening successful Pure Ahiran Mohaddi Nagar, Majre Palhipur village, erstwhile the colony caput Deepak Yadav and his begetter Krishna Yadav arrived and allegedly tore the documents.

They besides misbehaved with her and Lekhpal Avinash, she alleged, adding that some officials managed to permission the colony with difficulty.

The officials past informed elder authorities, aft which Salon Sub-Divisional Magistrate Chandra Prakash reached the spot and spoke to locals. Circle Officer, Salon, Yadvendra Bahadur Pal said, “The colony caput and his begetter not lone tore authorities documents but besides obstructed authoritative enactment which is an offence treated earnestly nether law.”

A lawsuit has been registered astatine Salon Kotwali, and the constabulary person arrested Deepak Yadav and his father, Krishna Yadav. Further enactment is underway, officials said. The incidental comes amid statewide efforts to update electoral rolls nether the ongoing SIR exercise.
