U.P.: BJP MLA stages protest against police in Lucknow over 'bribery'; two cops sent to lines

BJP MLA from the Bakshi Ka Talab constituency successful Lucknow, Yogesh Shukla, connected Friday (November 21, 2025) said helium staged a protestation astatine the Mahigawan constabulary presumption aft alleging that policemen had demanded a bribe to instrumentality a recovered mobile phone.

According to officials, a sub-inspector and a constable were sent to the lines precocious connected Thursday (November 20, 2025) nighttime aft the protest.

Mr. Shukla told PTI that a nonmigratory of Mahigawan country had mislaid his mobile phone. When helium reached the station, a policeman allegedly sought a bribe of ₹2,000 to instrumentality it.

Mr. Shukla further alleged that policemen were issuing challans arbitrarily to conscionable "targets", adjacent erstwhile motorists had valid documents.

Citing repeated complaints of corruption, the MLA reached the constabulary presumption with his supporters connected Thursday evening and held a protest. Local residents besides gathered, and immoderate raised slogans against the police.

DCP Gopal Krishan Chaudhary spoke to the MLA and assured him of indispensable action, aft which the concern was brought nether control.

Mr. Chaudhary aboriginal said Sub-Inspector Dhirendra Rai and Constable Pappu Kushwaha, who were accused of demanding wealth for returning the phone, had been sent to the constabulary lines pending inquiry.
