Members of various trade unions staged a objection astatine Tiruchi connected Tuesday successful enactment of their charter of demands including withdrawal of the 4 caller Labour Codes notified by the Central authorities past year.  The commercialized unions said the caller labour codes were against the interests of workers.

Representatives of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions, All India Trade Union Congress, Labour Progressive Federation, Hind Mazdoor Sabha, Marumalarchi Labour Front and the All India Central Council of Trade Unions participated successful the objection that was organised other to the District Collectorate here. 

During the astir 45-minute agelong demonstration, the members of commercialized unions demanded regularisation of declaration labourers and supply them with adjacent wage for adjacent work. They besides demanded that the labourers should beryllium paid a minimum wage of ₹26,000 per month. 

The unions claimed that the declaration labourers were asked to enactment for 10 to 13 hours and provided with ₹10,000 and ₹12,000 arsenic wages without providing them with different benefits specified arsenic bonus, ESI and Provident Fund.

The objection was besides to widen enactment and solidarity to the workers successful the National Capital Region who had staged protests against the “oppressive moving conditions”, 12-hour shifts and stagnant wages. They demanded an eight-hour workday and inflation-adjusted pay.
