Telangana Cyber Security Bureau inspector trapped by ACB in ₹9 lakh bribery case

An Inspector of Police attached to the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) was caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) connected Saturday for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant successful transportation with a cyber fraud case.

According to the ACB, the accused officer, Bathula Mahendar, demanded ₹9 lakh from the complainant successful speech for not implicating the complainant’s household members and friends successful a cyber fraud lawsuit registered astatine the Central Crime Police Station of the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau.

The bureau said that the serviceman had already accepted ₹5 lakh successful currency arsenic portion outgo of the bribe. On Saturday, helium demanded the remaining ₹4 lakh and threatened the complainant astatine his office.

Acting connected the complaint, the ACB’s Central Investigation Unit apprehended the serviceman astatine his workplace portion helium was taking the equilibrium amount.

During consequent searches astatine the officer’s residence, ACB officials recovered and seized ₹13 lakh successful unaccounted cash, golden ornaments and definite property-related documents. Verification of his assets is underway.

The serviceman has been arrested and was produced earlier the peculiar tribunal for SPE and ACB cases astatine Nampally for judicial remand. The complainant’s individuality has been withheld for information reasons.

The ACB said the probe is continuing.
