Telangana Assembly Speaker dismisses disqualification plea against Jagtial MLA Sanjay Kumar

Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker, Gaddam Prasad Kumar, connected Wednesday (February 4, 2026) dismissed the petition filed by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) seeking the disqualification of its Jagtial MLA M. Sanjay Kumar.

The Speaker told PTI that the petition was dismissed. The BRS filed petitions successful 2024 against Mr. Sanjay Kumar and 9 different enactment MLAs, alleging that they had joined the ruling Congress aft being elected connected a BRS summons successful the 2023 Assembly polls.

The Speaker had earlier dismissed the disqualification petitions filed against 7 BRS MLAs. With the plea for disqualification of Mr. Sanjay Kumar being rejected, akin petitions against 2 different MLAs — Danam Nagender (Khairatabad) and Kadiam Srihari (Station Ghanpur) — are pending with the Speaker.

Responding to the dismissal of the disqualification plea against him, Mr. Sanjay Kumar claimed that 2024 media reports of his joining Congress were wrong. He said helium had past met Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for "development purposes". Mr. Sanjay Kumar, who spoke to reporters successful Jagtial, said helium inactive continues to beryllium an MLA of BRS.

The Jagtial MLA said helium is moving with the State authorities for the improvement of Jagtial.
