The Bowenpally constabulary arrested 2 men successful transportation with a cheating lawsuit linked to an alleged hawala web and recovered ₹4.05 crore successful currency connected Thursday. Officers said the currency was being moved illegally and was seized for verification of its root and ownership.
DCP (North) S. Rashmi Perumal said that the accused were identified arsenic Prakash Motibhai Prajapathi, 30, and Pragnesh Keerthibai Prajapathi, 28, some from Gujarat.
“The lawsuit stems from a ailment lodged connected December 7, 2024 by 1 V. Vishwanath Chary of Nagole, who said helium and 2 friends handed implicit ₹50 lakh to 1 Mohammad Subhan Pasha for currency to RTGS exchange. They were promised ₹60 lakh done RTGS, but nary transportation was made and the currency was not returned,” said the officer.
Meanwhile connected Thursday, acting connected accusation astir Prakash’s movement, Bowenpally constabulary intercepted a SUV with Maharashtra registration, successful Addakal constabulary limits of Mahabubnagar district.
Officers past traced the car and intercepted it, pursuing which Prakash was caught successful possession of ₹4.05 crore of hawala cash. “He admitted to receiving the ₹50 lakh successful August 2024 and besides confessed to moving the seized ₹4.05 crore from Nagpur to Bengaluru arsenic portion of an amerciable hawala operation,” said the officer, adding that further probe is nether way.
