The Supreme Court connected Thursday (January 22, 2026) agreed to perceive the curative plea of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) violent Mohammad Arif against the decease punishment fixed to him successful the 2000 Red Fort onslaught lawsuit that near 3 Army jawans dead.

The apical tribunal had connected November 3, 2022 dismissed the reappraisal plea of Arif successful the case.

Arif alias Ashfaq was awarded the decease condemnation by a proceedings tribunal successful October 2005 and the Delhi High Court had affirmed the presumption of the proceedings tribunal successful September 2007.

He had past approached the apex tribunal challenging the High Court’s verdict. The apical tribunal had successful August 2011 affirmed the decease condemnation awarded to Arif.

On Thursday (January 21, 2026), a peculiar Bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Vikram Nath and J.K. Maheshwari took enactment of the submissions of the counsel which cited apex tribunal judgements aft the decease condemnation was upheld by dismissing the entreaty and the reappraisal petition.

“Issue notice,” the CJI said.

Curative petition is the past ineligible recourse disposable to a litigant to assail the verdict which has been upheld doubly by the apex tribunal itself by dismissing the entreaty and the reappraisal petition.

According to the prosecution, connected the nighttime of December 22, 2000, immoderate intruders had entered the country wherever the portion of 7 Rajputana Rifles of the Indian Army was stationed wrong the Red Fort present and opened fire.

Three Army jawans were killed successful the incident.
