A Bench comprising Chief Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice K. Vinod Chandran was proceeding aggregate pleas, including those filed by academician Zahoor Ahmad Bhat and socio-political activistic Ahmad Malik, pressing for the implementation of the Centre’s assurance to reconstruct Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir “at the earliest”.

The counsel appearing for the petitioners referred to an undertaking recorded successful the Supreme Court’s December 2023 judgement that upheld the abrogation of Article 370.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Centre, said consultations were underway with the Jammu and Kashmir medication regarding the restoration of Statehood.

“This is simply a sui generis (unique) problem, and determination are wider concerns involved. Of course, determination was a solemn undertaking, but respective factors request to beryllium considered,” Mr. Mehta submitted.
