Supreme Court dismisses plea seeking ₹1 crore as fee and expenses for filing cases to 'save' former CJI

The Supreme Court of India connected Thursday (March 12, 2026) dismissed a plea filed by an advocator who sought a absorption to the Centre to wage him ₹1 crore arsenic interest and expenses for filing six cases successful 2018 to allegedly "save" past Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra.

A Bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M Pancholi said the petition was "totally misconceived".

The apical tribunal was proceeding the petition filed by Lucknow-based advocator Ashok Pandey challenging an bid of the Lucknow seat of the Allahabad High Court successful March past year.

The High Court had dismissed his plea seeking a absorption to the Centre to wage ₹1 crore arsenic interest and expenses for six cases which helium had filed.

Mr. Pandey told the apex tribunal that helium had filed six cases to "defend" past CJI Misra.

The petitioner said helium had incurred expenses of ₹2 lakh for litigation successful those cases and helium took wealth from his girl for it.

The petitioner referred to the January 2018 property league by the past 4 senior-most judges of the apex court.

The CJI observed, "You provided societal work to the institution. Social work is ever priceless. How tin it beryllium assessed astatine ₹1 crore oregon 2 crore?" The Bench told the petitioner that helium had done societal work and if helium wanted an appreciation, "we admit you for that".

It dismissed the plea challenging the High Court order.

Before the High Court, the petitioner had besides challenged a July 2024 bid passed by the Ministry for Law and Justice done which his assertion for outgo of ₹1 crore arsenic interest and expenses for filing six cases to allegedly prevention the past CJI was rejected.
