Summer heat pushes up electricity demand in Kerala

The sweltering summertime vigor has driven up energy depletion successful April, creating anxious moments for the State’s powerfulness sector.

On April 13, the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) recorded a regular depletion of 112.16 cardinal units (mu) and a highest request of 5,933 megawatts (MW). The highest request is an all-time precocious for the State, according to load dispatch centre data. The erstwhile grounds request was 5,802 MW, recorded connected March 25 this year. The State’s highest-ever regular consumption, however, remains 115.94 mu, recorded connected May 3, 2024. Kerala had recorded a regular depletion of 101.51 mu connected April 12, 106.88 mu connected April 11, and 107.7 mu connected April 10.
