Six persons were injured erstwhile a backstage tourer van carrying a household overturned adjacent Vijayamangalam successful Perundurai taluk present connected Friday (January 2, 2025).
According to the police, the household was travelling from Salem to Pollachi to be a babe ablution ceremony. The mishap occurred astatine the Vaipadi junction connected the Salem-Coimbatore National Highway erstwhile the van operator attempted to overtake a lorry. In the process, the van reportedly brushed against the lorry, causing the operator to suffer power and the conveyance to overturn.
Of the 15 occupants successful the van, six sustained injuries. Passersby rushed to their assistance and shifted the injured to the Government Erode Medical College and Hospital astatine Perundurai, wherever they are undergoing treatment. Perundurai constabulary are investigating the incident.
