DMK ineligible helping caput N.R. Elango connected Sunday said the Election Commission’s (EC) determination to widen the past day for the electoral rotation Special Intensive Revision (SIR) by a week was a triumph for his party’s antiauthoritarian struggle.
In a statement, helium recalled Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s statement that “the [one month] timeframe for the SIR and its method of implementation were not practical.”
He said the DMK had been demanding the deletion of deceased voters, treble entries and migrated voters from the electoral rotation since 2022. “Though the DMK welcomes the SIR, determination are galore provisions that are against the law. There is an apprehension that it could pave the mode for the exclusion of genuine voters and the inclusion of bogus voters,” Mr Elango said.
He said though the EC had claimed that 95% of forms had been distributed and 75% of them had been entered into computers, successful Chennai lone 55% of the forms had been computerised.
