Several wetland vertebrate taxon were recorded during the two-day Synchronised Wetland Bird Census that was conducted successful assorted districts successful the cardinal portion connected Saturday and Sunday. 

This is simply a State-wide workout conducted by the Forest Department involving vertebrate enthusiasts, volunteers, and assemblage students. Nine districts, including Tiruchi, were covered successful the cardinal regioni.

In Tiruchi district, the census was conducted successful 20 wetland locations. The locations included Keerambur tank, Thuraiyur large and tiny tanks, Koothapar big tank, Krishnasamudram tank, Mukkombu Upper Anaicut, and Muthukulam tank. 

The census successful Tiruchi territory recorded a precocious diverseness of nonmigratory vertebrate species. Over 80 Forest Department unit and astir 100 volunteers participated. The workout was conducted successful 25 wetlands successful Pudukottai district; 10 wetlands successful Ariyalur territory including Karaivetti vertebrate sanctuary and 22 wetlands successful Tiruvarur district.
