The Dakshina Kannada and Udupi District Scheduled Tribe Ola Meesalati Horata Samiti connected Sunday demanded the State Government to supply interior preservation for Scheduled Tribes, successful the mode it did for Scheduled Castes.
Addressing presspersons present MLC Shantaram Siddi, a subordinate of the Samiti, said the State Government followed recommendations of Justice Nagamohan Das Committee, and implemented the strategy for interior preservation among Scheduled Castes. Similarly interior preservation strategy should beryllium made for Scheduled Tribes too.
Mr. Siddi said determination were 50 tribes among the Scheduled Tribes successful Karnataka. As per the 2011 census, the full colonisation of the 50 Scheduled Tribes was astatine 42.48 lakh. Of this, 32.96 lakh was colonisation of Valmiki tribe, portion the remaining 9.52 lakh colonisation was dispersed crossed 49 tribes.
