‘Samathuva Pongal’ festival held at Erode Collectorate

The ‘Samathuva Pongal Festival–2026’ aimed astatine bringing radical unneurotic and showcasing the taste and accepted value of the harvest festival, particularly to the younger generation, was held astatine the Collectorate present connected Tuesday (January 13, 2026).

Collector S. Kandasamy inaugurated the festival and flagged disconnected accepted games for authorities officials, including rangoli, tug-of-war, uri adithal and fortunate country competitions. School students presented accepted martial arts and people performances specified arsenic silambam, por silambam, alangara silambam, vaal veechu and magudu veechu. The Collector besides joined thappattam artistes successful playing the parai (drum). Cultural performances including mayilattam, kaalaiyattam and mangala isai were staged arsenic portion of the celebrations. Prizes were distributed to winners of assorted competitions.

District Revenue Officer S. Santha Kumar, District Revenue Officer (Land) Manjula, Personal Assistants to the District Collector Ramkumar and Loganathan (Agriculture), Assistant Tourism Officer Palanisamy and officials from assorted departments were present.
