In a important measurement toward municipality sustainability, the inaugural variation of Threads & Treads has successfully diverted astir 3 tonnes of post-consumer discarded from landfills. Initiated by Spreco Recycling, the community-led postulation thrust saw progressive information from 17 residential societies crossed the Tambaram–OMR belt. The thrust was organically linked to the play with the poster crafted successful appreciation of the 17 communities’ effort, reading: “Members from 17 RWAs got caller apparel for Pongal and gave america their aged ones!”
The thrust specifically targeted overlooked discarded streams, collecting 2,100 kg of textiles and 650 kg of footwear. By establishing a transparent, community-level system, Threads & Treads addresses the increasing situation of cloth and footwear waste. The project’s occurrence was bolstered by strategical partnerships with Simple, FOMRRA, ReCity, and Bisleri’s Bottles for Change. This collaboration highlights the powerfulness of corporate enactment successful gathering scalable, eco-friendly solutions for a cleaner Chennai.
