After having abstained from the play grievances redress meeting, the Revenue officials, including the tahsildars, staged sit-in protestation astatine the Collectorate connected Monday demanding the aboriginal transportation of officials arsenic requested by them for idiosyncratic reasons.
The protesters said immoderate of them had submitted petition seeking their transfers for idiosyncratic reasons and connected aesculapian grounds. “Since nary determination has been taken connected our requests, we are protesting,” said M. Subbu, Tirunelveli territory president of Tamil Nadu Revenue Officers’ Association.
After holding talks with District Collector R. Sukumar, the two-hour-long agitation was withdrawn astir 1 p.m.
“The Collector has agreed to see our requests for transportation immediately,” Mr. Subbu said.
