Unidentified persons looted ₹25 lakh from retired service unit by claiming that helium was nether ‘digital arrest’ successful Salem.
According to the police, a 65-year-old retired service unit is residing successful Edappadi. On March 5, 2026, unidentified persons, claiming to beryllium a CBI officers, called to his WhatsApp fig and threatened that his SIM paper was utilized for anti-social activities and that helium was nether integer arrest. They besides asked him to deposit ₹25 lakh into 2 slope accounts to flight from further action.
Believing this, the retired service unit deposited the amount. Later, helium learned that helium had been cheated. On Wednesday (June 10, 2026), helium lodged a complaint with the Salem District Cyber Crime police. The constabulary registered a lawsuit and are investigating further.
