The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) connected Friday arrested a authorities worker attached to Coimbatore northbound taluk office, connected complaint of demanding and accepting ₹7,000 arsenic bribe from an applicant. The arrested has been identified arsenic Hariharan, 32, who worked arsenic a grounds clerk.
According to the DVAC, a nonmigratory of Thudiyalur had applied for further ineligible heir certificates astatine the taluk office. The applicant had already obtained a ineligible heir certificate and helium wanted further copies.
The applicant alleged that Hariharan demanded a bribe of ₹10,000 for providing the document. The grounds clerk aboriginal reduced the bribe magnitude to ₹7,000.
Unwilling to bribe the grounds clerk, the applicant approached the DVAC bureau with a ailment against the authorities employee.
DVAC Inspector Sheela laid a trap nether the supervision of the Additional Superintendent of Police C. Rajesh. They handed implicit currencies laced with phenolphthalein to the complainant. An authoritative said the grounds clerk hid the bribe magnitude wrong records kept astatine the bureau and the trap squad managed to hint it, starring to his arrest.
