Chief Minister and AINRC laminitis N. Rangasamy has resigned from the Thattanchavady Assembly seat, retaining the Mangalam constituency.
Mr. Rangasamy submitted his resignation missive to Secretary of the Legislative Assembly J. Dayalane connected Sunday, sources said.
The Chief Minister had contested from Thattanchavady successful the municipality and Mangalam successful the agrarian country of Puducherry successful the precocious concluded Assembly elections. He won some the seats by a bully margin. As per Assembly rules, a subordinate elected from aggregate constituencies should clasp 1 spot and resign from others wrong 14 days.
He retained the Thattanchavady spot by defeating his contiguous rival E. Vinayagam of Neyam Makkal Kazhagam, a Puducherry based governmental outfit which fought the 2026 Assembly polls successful confederation with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, by a borderline of 4,441 votes. Mr. Rangasamay secured 10,024 votes portion Mr. Vinayagam got 5,583 votes.
In the Mangalam Assembly segment, the Chief Minister defeated DMK’s S. S. Rangan by a borderline of implicit 7,000 votes. Mr. Rangasamy secured 17,917 votes portion Mr. Rangan garnered 10,867 votes.
