Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan has referred the announcement moved by six BJP MPs against Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Mallikarjun Kharge, accusing him of making “derogatory, disparaging and disrespectful” remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to the Committee of Privileges for examination, probe and report.
The announcement has been submitted jointly by BJP MPs Brij Lal, Mithlesh Kumar, Sumitra Balmik, Shivesh Kumar, Sikander Kumar and Nagendra Ray against Mr. Kharge “for alleged continual and deliberate usage of grossly derogatory, disparaging and highly disrespectful remarks against the Prime Minister and thereby lowering the dignity of Parliament and its members.” The announcement has been fixed nether Rule 188 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business successful the Council of States (Rajya Sabha).
According to sources, they had raised objections to remarks made by Mr. Kharge successful April, erstwhile helium allegedly called the Prime Minister “a terrorist”. Though aboriginal Mr. Kharge clarified that helium ne'er utilized this operation for the Prime Minister. “I said taxation coercion is happening, ED, the income taxation section and the CBI are conducting raids… this coercion is being facilitated by the PM. I did not telephone him a terrorist..”

A notification issued by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat connected Wednesday (June 17, 2026) said, “On information of the facts, the Chairman, Rajya Sabha has referred connected June 16, 2026, the substance nether Rule 203 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business successful the Council of States (Rajya Sabha) to the Committee of Privileges for examination, probe and report,” Rajya Sabha Secretary General P.C. Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh is the Chairman of the Privileges Committee of the House. Other members of the committee are Sudhanshu Trivedi, Deepak Prakash, Sumer Singh Solanki, Surendra Singh Nagar, Manan Kumar Mishra (all of the BJP) and Independent MP Kartikeya Sharma.
