Biotechnology students of Rajalakshmi Engineering College (REC), Chennai, person won awards astatine the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM), 2025 held successful Paris.
It is an planetary contention organised for students to usage synthetic biology to tackle existent satellite problems. The iGEM witnessed the information of 421 teams from 40 countries. The REC students person won the golden medal and Best Project Award successful the Food and Nutrition category.
The team’s winning task titled “SaltEnPep” is simply a synthetic biology attack towards recombinant look of saltiness enhancing peptides. It enhances peptides that amplify the salty sensation without adding much sodium. This allows nutrient manufacturers to trim sodium without losing flavour.
