Puducherry MP urges Centre to secure release of 12 Tamil fishermen detained by Sri Lankan Navy

Lok Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) and Puducherry Congress Committee (PCC) main V. Vaithilingam has sought the Centre’s involution for securing the merchandise of 12 fishermen from Puducherry and Tamil Nadu who were precocious detained by the Sri Lankan Navy.

In a missive to the Union Minister for External Affairs S. Jaishankar, the MP said the Sri Lankan Navy had taken into custody 12 fishermen portion they were sportfishing adjacent Kodiyakarai connected April 11, 2026. Of the 12 detained fishermen, 7 are from the Karaikal portion of the Union Territory and the remaining 5 are from Mayiladuthurai territory successful Tamil Nadu.
