Puducherry CM urges External Affairs Minister to secure release of Tamil fishermen detained by Sri Lankan authorities

Chief Minister N. Rangasamy has written to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) seeking diplomatic involution successful securing the merchandise of 2 groups of 25 Tamil fishermen who person been taken into custody by Sri Lankan authorities.

In a missive to Union Minister for External Affairs S. Jaishankar, Mr. Rangasamy said 1 radical of 14 fishermen, including 8 from Puducherry and the remainder from Tamil Nadu, were taken into custody and their vas confiscated by Sri Lankan Navy connected February 15.

Another radical of fishermen, including 2 from Karaikal and the remainder from Tamil Nadu, had been detained and their vessel impounded by the Sri Lankan Navy portion engaged successful sportfishing aboard a mechanised vessel connected February 12.

The letter, which besides shared the particulars of the seized vessels and the names of the fishermen, urged for contiguous Central involution successful securing their aboriginal merchandise and harmless return.
