PSI from Tumakuru held while accepting bribe

The Karnataka Lokayukta constabulary arrested a constabulary sub-inspector connected Saturday for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹40,000 successful transportation with the merchandise of a seized car.

A lawsuit has been registered nether the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

The accused serviceman has been identified arsenic Chetan Kumar S.S., Sub-Inspector of Police, Tumakuru Rural Police Station.

The complainant, Nagesh S.K., a nonmigratory of Nagadevanahalli, Bengaluru, had approached the Lokayukta constabulary alleging that the accused serviceman demanded a bribe of ₹5 lakh for releasing a car to its rightful owner.

During the trap operation, the accused allegedly accepted ₹40,000 arsenic a bribe done an intermediary, pursuing which Lokayukta officials arrested him red-handed.

The accused has been taken into custody, officials said.
