A 12-year-old large sloth carnivore died of ill-health astatine the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP) connected Saturday.
IGZP Curator G. Mangamma said that implicit the past fewer days, the carnal that was 5 months pregnant, had stopped taking porridge, but was consuming fruits, dates and bread. “The carnal besides exhibited immoderate vaginal discharges and showed symptoms suggestive of termination 4 days back. The origin of decease was owed to septicemic daze resulting from a mummified foetus wrong the uterus. Despite timely aesculapian attraction and continuous monitoring by the veterinary staff, the carnal could not beryllium revived,” Ms. Mangamma said.
A post-mortem introspection was conducted by the zoo veterinarian and the findings confirmed Septicaemia owed to complications related to the mummified foetus, she said, adding that they were committed to providing highest standards of veterinary attraction and monitoring for each its carnal inhabitants.
