‘Please protect the people’: CM Mamata urges CJI Kant to safeguard Constitution, judiciary, democracy

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee connected Saturday urged Chief Justice of India Surya Kant to support the country's Constitution, ideology and judiciary.

Mr. Banerjee, speaking astatine a programme to inaugurate a gathering of the Jalpaiguri Circuit Bench of the Calcutta High Court, besides called connected Justice Kant to support radical of the state from being wrongly targeted by "agencies".

"Please support the Constitution, democracy, judiciary, past and geography of the state from disaster,” she said, without elaborating.

“You (the CJI) are the guardian of our Constitution, we are nether your ineligible guardianship. Please support the people," Mr. Banerjee said.

Justice Kant was besides contiguous astatine the programme.
