A Division Bench of Justices G.R. Swaminathan and R. Kalaimathi ordered announcement to the Centre connected the petition filed by Swamimalai Sundara Vimala Nathan of Kumbakonam successful Thanjavur district.
The petitioner said the IGNDPS was launched successful February 2009 by the Central authorities to enactment otherwise abled persons. This strategy was introduced nether the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP).
It provided a monthly pension of ₹300 to the otherwise abled persons. Those aged supra 18 years with 80% oregon much disablement and belonging to a beneath poorness enactment household could use for pension nether the scheme. For the past 2 years, 5.29 lakh eligible beneficiaries had submitted their applications to enroll their names nether the scheme, helium said.
However, these applications had not yet been processed and sanctioned by the Centre. Such a prolonged hold would impact the eligible persons. Section 24 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, provided societal information to safeguard and beforehand the rights of persons with disabilities, helium said.
