Plea to direct Deputy Mayor to assume office of Mayor

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court connected Friday sought effect of the State and Madurai Corporation to a nationalist involvement litigation petition that sought a absorption to the Deputy Mayor to presume bureau and discharge the functions of the Mayor till the caller Mayor was appointed.

A Division Bench of Justices G. Jayachandran and N. Senthilkumar was proceeding the petition filed by P. Manikandan of Madurai. The petitioner said successful 2025, Mayor V. Indrani Ponvasanth had tendered her resignation from the post. The medication of Madurai Corporation was affected.

The monthly Corporation Council has not been conducted aft the resignation of the Mayor. Due to this reason, the grievances of the radical person not been addressed, helium said.
