SSeveral people, including artistes of assorted fields, were honoured astatine the 37th Margazhi Mahotsav organised by Bharat Kalachar connected Sunday.
Gnana Kala Bharathi was presented to Carnatic instrumentalist and Chitravina maestro N. Ravikiran; Viswa Kala Bharathi to ghatam exponent S. Karthick; Acharya Kala Bharathi to Bharatanatyam exponent and guru Padmini Krishnamurthy; Vimarshaka Kala Bharathi to elder arts commentator and writer S. Janaki; and Kala Seva Bharathi to Mohanedass Delamourd, founder-director of Triveni Association, a non-profitable organisation to beforehand creation and culture. V. Sreevathson, a writer, director, and on-stage performer, got Nadaga Kala Bharathi. Actor-filmmaker Suhasini Maniratnam received the K. Balachander Trophy for Artistic Excellence.
The Bala Kala Bharathi Award was fixed to Akshath Piram (bharatanatyam), P.S. Sudarsan (bhagavata mela) and Thiruvarur Kavin Prakash (Carnatic euphony nadaswaram).
Yuva Kala Bharathi awards were received by R. Sai Vignesh (vocal), Preethi Sethuraman (vocal), Prithvi Harish (vocal), Vishruthi Girish (vocal), Shreelakshmi S. Bhat (violin), H. Vishwas (mandolin), Shri Sainath S. (ghatam), Swathi Vignesh (tamil drama), Riha Giri (bharatanatyam), Shruthe Rammohan (bharatanatyam), Sundaresan Pandurangan (bharatanatyam) and Kameshwari Ganesan (all-rounder).
Sowjanya Suresh (bharatanatyam), S. Kumar (service to Tamil theatre) and Sathvika Shankar (bharatanatyam) got peculiar commendation.
N. Kumar, chairman, radical firm board, The Sanmar Group, Mr. Ravikiran, Isai Kavi Ramanan, Ms. Maniratnam, Mr. Karthick, Ms. Kameshwari Ganesan, caput of Bharat Kalachar Y. Gee. Mahendra, and taste advisor Y.G. Madhuvanthi spoke. Ravi Murugaiah, chairman, Vasan Estates, was besides present.
