Union Minister of State for Rural Development Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar connected Tuesday (May 5, 2026) thanked the State authorities for sanctioning ₹369.20 crore for the modernisation of the Guntur channel, calling it a large boost to farmers successful the region.

Addressing a property conference, Mr. Chandra Sekhar said the task aimed to grow the existing transmission and amended irrigation and drinking h2o supply. The works see the operation of slope bunds and the reconstruction of astir 280 structures on the channel. He said the channel, built astir six decades ago, had been incapable to present capable h2o owed to issues specified arsenic seepage, deficiency of gradient and silt accumulation.
