Passenger arrested at Hyderabad airport for smuggling exotic wildlife from Bangkok

A 27-year-old rider arriving from Bangkok was intercepted by Customs officials astatine Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Hyderabad, connected September 27, 2025, aft a regular baggage cheque revealed a concealed consignment of exotic wildlife.

Officials recovered 1 show lizard, a uncommon two-headed red-eared slider turtle, 4 greenish iguanas and 12 different iguanas from his checked-in luggage. All the taxon are protected nether wildlife extortion laws, making their possession and transport illegal.

The animals were seized and aboriginal deported backmost to Bangkok. The rider was arrested, and further probe is nether way.
