A paleontological appraisal of fossil assemblage astatine Panaiyur successful Thoothukudi territory reveals that it belongs to the mediate to precocious Holocene period, astir 8,000 to 12,000 years ago.

The method study of the appraisal by the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) was authored by its technological squad comprising Dola Roy, Debashree Dam, R. Chandran, C. Raghunathan, and Dhriti Banerjee.
