One arrested as Punjab Police busts illegal weapon smuggling module

Punjab Police connected Tuesday (October 14, 2025) claimed to person busted an amerciable limb smuggling module with the apprehension of a antheral hailing from Amritsar, officials said.

Police recovered six pistols, 11 magazines and 111 unrecorded cartridges from the accused, Amarbir Singh.

"In a large breakthrough, Amritsar Rural Police busts an amerciable limb smuggling module and apprehends Amarbir Singh @Amar, nonmigratory of Dairiwal, P.S. Tarsikka, nonmigratory of Amritsar and retrieve 6 pistols, 11 magazines, 91 unrecorded cartridges of .30 bore and 20 Live cartridges of 9mm," Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said connected X (formerly Twitter Inc.).

Preliminary probe revealed that the accused precocious returned from Canada and was successful interaction with Pakistan-based smugglers, Mr. Yadav said.

An FIR has been registered and further probe is underway to place different operatives, hint guardant and backward linkages, and dismantle the full cross-border smuggling network, the DGP said.
