On Thevar Jayanthi, people queue up in Goripalayam to pay respects to statue

In Madurai, the 118th Thevar Jayanthi and 63rd guru puja connected Thursday, which started with Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and assembly of ministers paying homage to the Muthuramalinga Thevar statue, continued precocious into the evening with radical queuing up to wage their respect to the leader. 

Public from assorted parts of the territory and adjacent districts descended astatine Goripalayam to wage their homage to the statue of Thevar.

Many people, including a ample fig of women and teenagers, started arriving astatine the determination since greeting to wage their respects to the leader.  

A bulk of the women carried beverage pots and ‘mulaipari’ (sprouts) waited successful agelong queues which reached arsenic acold arsenic Meenakshi Government Arts College for Women astir noon. 

Youngsters affiliated with assorted outfits wore uniformly coloured T-shirts and headbands for the celebration.  

Leaders from assorted governmental parties, including AIADMK, DMK, MDMK, BJP, All India Forward Bloc and Naam Tamilar Katchi, garlanded the statue. 

Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) laminitis and person Vaiko, Madurai MP Su. Venkatesan, AMMK person T.T.V. Dhinakaran, V.K. Sasikala, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) wide caput N. Anand alias ‘Bussy’ Anand and wide caput C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar, among others paid their respect to the statue.  

Due to strict constabulary regulations and disposable policing crossed the city, youngsters performing stunts successful their vehicles, by sitting atop cars, flouting rules, mostly reduced.
