Odisha’s 4,000-kg explosives loot case: NIA chargesheets 11 for alleged Maoist conspiracy

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has chargesheeted 11 individuals successful transportation with the loot of astir 4,000 kg of explosives from a conveyance successful Odisha's Rourkela territory successful May this year.

In its statement, the bureau said the accused had been booked nether the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS), Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act aft they were recovered "to person been actively progressive successful the transgression conspiracy, readying and execution of the loot of astir 200 explosive packets, each containing 20 kg of explosives."

According to the agency, the explosives were being transported from the Itma Explosive Station to the Banko chromatic quarry connected May 27, erstwhile a radical of 10-15 equipped Maoists intercepted the vehicle, abducted the operator and seized the consignment.

"The vehicle, on with its driver, had been forcibly seized by 10-15 equipped Maoists and was being taken to a stronghold of the violent organisation successful the adjacent jungle," the NIA said.
