Nominations of 201 candidates for 10 constituencies successful Coimbatore territory were accepted aft scrutiny connected Tuesday.
A full of 450 candidates had filed their nominations from March 30 to April 6.
Constituency-wise (nominations filed and valid nominations): Mettupalayam - 48 and 24, Sulur - 32 and 17, Kavundampalayam - 33 and 17, Coimbatore North - 49 and 29, Thondamuthur - 77 and 22, Coimbatore South - 61 and 38, Singanallur - 44 and 29, Kinathukkadavu - 43 and 5, Pollachi - 34 and 14, and Valparai - 29 and 6.
The salient candidates represent erstwhile Minister S.P. Velumani of AIADMK successful Thondamuthur, Vanathi Srinivasan of BJP successful Coimbatore North, and V. Senthil Balaji of DMK successful Coimbatore South.
To objections raised by AIADMK and Naam Tamizhar Katchi partymen regarding the information submitted by DMK campaigner V. Senthil Balaji for Coimbatore South constituency, officials ruled retired immoderate procedural flaw.
In Tiruppur district, 134 retired of 256 nominations submitted for 8 Assembly constituencies were accepted.
Constituency-wise accepted and rejected nominations: Dharapuram (SC) - 10 and 6, Kangayam - 17 and 4, Avanashi (SC) - 14 and 3, Tiruppur North - 17 and 11, Tiruppur South - 28 and 3, Palladam - 19 and 9, Udumalpet - 16 and 4, and Madathukulam - 13 and 4.
Prominent candidates successful Tiruppur territory represent sitting MLA and Minister M.P. Saminathan of DMK successful Kangayam constituency, and Union Minister L. Murugan of BJP successful Avanashi constituency.
