Senior IAS serviceman Neelam Meena was connected Monday (May 25, 2026) appointed arsenic the caller Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal aft Manoj Kumar Agarwal was elevated arsenic the State's Chief Secretary recently.

In a missive to the State Chief Secretary, the canvass authorization said Ms. Meena, a 1998 batch IAS serviceman of the West Bengal cadre, is being appointed arsenic the CEO.

It said Ms. Meena volition not clasp immoderate further complaint of the State Government portion holding the station of Chief Electoral Officer.

Soon aft the BJP authorities took complaint of the State, Mr. Agarwal was elevated arsenic the Chief Secretary.

He was liable for the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls up of Assembly polls and oversaw the highly charged State elections.

The West Bengal authorities had forwarded a sheet of 3 elder IAS officers to the Election Commission for the enactment of the State's adjacent CEO.

The nominees were Neelam Meena, Tanmay Chakrabarty and Moumita Godara Basu, officials had said.
