NC loses stronghold in J&K; Congress, BJP win two seats each in bypolls to eight Assembly constituencies

In Telangana, the Congress won the Jubilee Hills seat, wherever the party’s V. Naveen Yadav defeated Bharat Rashtra Samithi campaigner Maganti Sunitha by 24,729 votes. The spot had fallen vacant aft the decease of BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath.

The BJP registered a large triumph successful Odisha’s Nuapada, wherever its campaigner Jay Dholakia defeated the Congress’ Ghasi Ram Majhi by 83,748 votes. Mr. Dholakia is the lad of erstwhile BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia, whose decease led to the bypoll.

The ruling AAP retained Punjab’s Tarn Taran seat with Harmeet Singh Sandhu defeating Shiromani Akali Dal’s (SAD) Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa by 12,091 votes. The spot fell vacant pursuing the decease of AAP MLA Kashmir Singh Sohal.

In Jharkhand’s Ghatshila constituency, JMM’s Soren bushed BJP’s Babulal Soren by implicit 38,500 votes. The byelection was held pursuing the decease of JMM MLA Ramdas Soren.
