MP urges External Affairs Minister to secure release of Tamil fishermen held by Sri Lankan Navy

Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and main of Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee V. Vaithilingam has requested External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to unafraid the aboriginal merchandise of 12 Tamil fishermen, including 10 from the Karaikal portion of Puducherry, from the custody of the Sri Lankan Navy.

In a missive to the Union Minister, the MP said the fishermen were detained by the Sri Lankan Navy astir astatine 2.40 a.m connected September 28. Of the 12 fishermen detained by the Lankan authorities, 10 are from the Karaikal portion of the Union Territory, and 2 from Tamil Nadu.

I petition the Minister to intervene and transportation the Sri Lankan authorities done diplomatic channels to merchandise the captured fishermen on with their boats,” the missive said.

On Monday, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy wrote to Mr. Jaishankar, seeking measures to unafraid the merchandise of fishermen.
