More than 10% posts vacant in Delhi Police, says Minister

Over 10% of the full fig of posts successful Delhi Police are vacant, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) informed the Rajya Sabha connected Wednesday.

Replying to a question raised by Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha subordinate Prakash Chik Baraik during Question Hour, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said arsenic of November 30, the existent spot of Delhi Police is 92,044 personnel, with 9,248 vacancies crossed ranks.

“Occurrence of vacancies is simply a dynamic process that depends connected retirement, promotion, and resignation, and filling them is simply a continuous process,” the Minister said.

Mr. Rai added that vacancies are reported to recruitment agencies regularly and appointments are made upon completion of the recruitment process.

However, Mr. Rai did not respond to Mr. Baraik’s query connected the duration for which these posts person remained vacant and by erstwhile they would beryllium filled.

A Public Accounts Committee study tabled successful Parliament successful April 2024 had stated that Delhi Police sent respective proposals to the MHA seeking implicit 50,000 caller posts and further units to conscionable increasing demand.
