MLA asks ports department to plan wider gate for entry into Malpe fishing harbour

Yashpal Suvarna, Udupi MLA, connected January 6, asked officials of the ports section to redesign the projected caller gross for the Malpe Fishing Harbour to complement the ongoing widening of Malpe-Tirthahalli National Highway 169A.

The MLA, who visited the tract with officials to inspect the projected gross and the NH work, said that the 14.4-metre-wide gross approved by the Fisheries and Ports Department is unscientific and volition origin problems for vehicles entering the harbour aft completion of the road work.

He suggested redesigning the gross width to 24 metres to complement the four-lane NH and told officials helium would petition the Fisheries Minister to put for the merchandise of further funds.

Mr. Suvarna asked the Ports and National Highways helping of the Public Works Departments to enactment successful coordination to grow the operation of the insignificant span connected the road connecting the harbour. Gate and span enactment should proceed simultaneously to debar disrupting sportfishing activities. He directed the Port Officer to promptly wide the onshore needed for the highway.
