The Telangana Cabinet has approved the connection for merger of 27 municipalities wrong the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits into the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). 

This was announced astatine a property league held successful Hyderabad connected Tuesday (November 25, 2025), aft the Cabinet meeting. It was besides decided to merge selected municipal bodies astir the ORR into the GHMC limits. A determination was taken to amend the GHMC Act and the Telangana Municipalities Act paving the mode for the merger. 

Meanwhile, GHMC Council has been presented with the connection — for merger of peripheral municipality section bodies with the Corporation — during the wide assemblage gathering connected Tuesday.

The proposal, cleared by the authorities cabinet, envisages merger of a full 27 corporations falling connected and wrong ORR, with GHMC, for equitable and accordant development, Mayor G.Vijayalakshmi informed the Council. She requested the corporators to survey the connection and travel up with their views.

Why merge the municipalities with GHMC?

The Government, citing uneven improvement patterns, regulatory disparity, and rising urbanization pressures successful peri-urban areas, has projected the merger to guarantee azygous readying standards, seamless civic services, and coordinated metropolitan development, arsenic per a property note.

The connection covers areas including Pedda Amberpet, Jalpally, Shamshabad, Turkayamjal, Manikonda, Narsingi, Adibatla, Thukkuguda, Medchal, Dammaiguda, Nagaram, Pocharam, Ghatkesar, Gundlapochampally, Thumkunta, Kompally, Dundigal, Bollaram, Tellapur, Ameenpur, Badangpet, Bandlaguda Jagir, Meerpet, Boduppal, Peerzadiguda, Jawaharnagar, and Nizampet.
